One of the key factors to your health and wellness is your nutrition. Hopefully, everyone who reads my newsletters is drinking plenty of pure water every day and abstaining from soda. After water, the most common beverages people drink are coffee and tea. Unlike soda, organic coffee and tea are leading sources of beneficial antioxidant polyphenols. According to the Tea Association of the USA,1 tea is found in nearly 80% of all households and on any day, more than 159 million people in the U.S. are drinking it. In 2019, 15% of 84 billion servings of tea was green tea and 84% was black tea. The U.S. is the third largest tea importer in the world and the only Western country growing in the amount of tea imported and consumed. However, while those across the pond take their tea hot,2 approximately 75% of Americans drink it iced. The organization anticipates industry growth of up to 3%, which may be driven by the growing knowledge of its health benefits, convenience and high-end specialty teas.3 When brewed at home, tea costs about three cents per serving and even the more expensive kinds can be less than 10 cents per serving. While more than 7,000 studies are recorded in PubMed under "tea and health,"4 only recently have scientists begun investigating the potential for using it as an antimicrobial. Its health benefits come from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, from which all tea is derived. There are four polyphenols found in green tea, of which epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC), and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) have the greatest antimicrobial effects.5 EGCG Improves the Body's Ability to Use ZincComing into cold and flu season, and the potential for a new wave of COVID-19, many people are talking about the importance of zinc supplementation to thwart an infection. Zinc is an essential mineral found throughout the body and it is a cofactor for nearly 3,000 proteins.6 One of the effective treatments for early symptoms of COVID-19 has been the combination of hydroxychloroquine with zinc. Initially, a team of doctors from New York University used hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. Later, zinc sulfate was added to the protocol.7 To compare the outcomes between the two groups they completed a retrospective observational study and found that those who received the zinc sulfate went home more frequently and were less likely to need a ventilator. As research has been published quickly during the pandemic, some have found that published results are not always accurately supported by the data. For example, the authors of a study published in the Lancet May 22, 2020, claimed a reduction in survival and an increase in ventricular arrhythmias with patients receiving hydroxychloroquine alone or with a macrolide antibiotic, such as azithromycin. The results were later retracted,8 but not until after the World Health Organization stopped using the drug in their protocols and leaders of other trials announced the investigations were terminated.9 Hydroxychloroquine acts as a zinc ionophore, helping zinc to move into the cells where it can halt the progression of viral replication.10,11 Catechins May Be a Strategic Key to Good HealthThere are several ways that the catechins in green tea influence your health. In one study of more than 50,000 participants, scientists found that ischemic heart disease and stroke were the leading causes of death and represented nearly 50% of all premature deaths.12 The simple habit of drinking green or black tea may help reduce your blood pressure; high blood pressure is a contributing factor to heart disease and stroke.13 In a literature review of 25 trials, another group of researchers found that those who drank green or black tea for 12 weeks had an average reduction of 2.6 mm Hg systolic blood pressure and 2.2 mm Hg diastolic blood pressure as compared to those who did not drink tea.14 Although green tea is less popular when compared to the sales of black tea, it provided the best results. According to the authors, this reduction may be expected to lower risk by 8% for stroke, 5% for coronary artery disease mortality and 4% for all-cause mortality.15 The data support other research showing that drinking three to four cups of tea per day may reduce the risk of heart disease.16 Researchers have found that this amount of daily tea promotes heart and cardiovascular health and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke through a beneficial effect on endothelial function.17,18 Drinking green tea can also inhibit amyloid-beta plaque formation in the brain, associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease.19 Altering the structure of the amyloid fibrils can make them less toxic.20 Unfortunately, the concentrations used in the study were so high you couldn't possibly consume that amount. Struggling With Gingivitis? Consider Green TeaThe prevalence of periodontal disease varies among countries, but some experts estimate it affects nearly 50% of the global population.29 Risk factors include medications, poor oral hygiene, diabetes and stress. It's believed that it may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease by 19% and treatment may help improve glycemic control in people with Type 2 diabetes. According to the American Dental Association, brushing your teeth twice a day with toothpaste for 2 minutes helps remove food and plaque and reduces your risk of cavities.30 Unfortunately, proper teeth brushing techniques may not be followed frequently. In one study of 13,070 people, researchers found an association between the development of diabetes and the number of times participants brushed their teeth.31 Those who brushed more often were at reduced risk for disease. In another study from 2015, green tea was found to help with dental issues. The study group started with a plaque index of at least 1.5 and members were randomized into two groups.32 Those in the first group rinsed twice a day with a 2% green tea mouthwash and the other used a placebo mouthwash. After 28 days the differences were analyzed, and the data revealed that green tea was "effective in the reduction of plaque and gingivitis scores." Additionally, drinking green tea may boost the antibacterial capacity of saliva. In one study of Taekwondo athletes, researchers evaluated the ingestion of green tea after a two-hour training session. Saliva samples were collected before and immediately after training and 30 minutes after drinking the tea. An analysis of the data showed that the antibacterial action of the saliva was not impacted by training, but green tea enhanced its capacity.33 Topical Infections Respond to Green TeaGreen tea has demonstrated effectiveness when consumed, but it is also effective when applied topically. The leaders of a laboratory study investigated the antifungal activity of EGCG and compared it to the drugs fluconazole and flucytosine.34 The action of EGCG was four times higher than that of fluconazole and up to 16 times higher than flucytosine, indicating an ability to inhibit pathogenic dermatophytes. The researchers suggested that EGCG could be used alone as an antifungal agent in dermatophytosis.35 Following up on the study, another group of scientists engaged 94 patients who had interdigital tinea pedis, or athlete's foot.36 They were offered either a placebo treatment or a foot bath infused with green tea polyphenols (GTP). The researchers evaluated the results after 12 weeks of treatment and found people in the intervention group had a significant decrease in the size of the infected area. Researchers concluded that green tea polyphenols were effective, suggesting that "GTP could have antifungal activity."37 In a literature review gathering data from 145,028 children, researchers found that the median prevalence of impetigo was 12.3%, with a range of 4.2% to 19.4% depending on the area of the world where the study took place.38 The condition is typically treated with an antibiotic ointment or a topical cream. However, data have shown that the topical application of green tea ointment has an effective cure rate of 81.3% for people with impetigo. This is presented in comparison to the cure rate of 72.2% with topical antibiotics and 78.6% with oral antibiotics.39 A 2% green tea lotion applied to mild to moderate acne also demonstrated effectiveness when it reduced the lesions and severity of the condition in 20 participants. The green tea lotion was applied twice a day for six weeks and the participants were evaluated every two weeks.40 Green Tea Antimicrobial Action Doesn't Hurt Gut MicrobiomeThe antiviral and antifungal effects of green tea have been demonstrated against a number of viruses and health conditions. Yet, its polyphenols do not appear to exert the same antibacterial effect in your intestinal tract.41 However, there is evidence that it modulates the composition of the microbiota. In one study, researchers investigated these changes in 12 healthy volunteers using saliva and fecal samples collected before the intervention, two weeks after participants had been drinking 400 milliliters per day and again one week later after a wash-out period.42 The purposes were to explore the effect that drinking green tea had on the microbiome and to test the theory that the alterations were consistent with anticancer activity. The researchers found data that suggested that the changes in the gut microbiome could persist past the time individuals were drinking the green tea. The results of this study supported past data that demonstrated a tendency for a rising number of Bifidobacterium. After analysis of the data, the researchers found that "the change in proportion was induced, not by an interspecies transition, but by an intraspecies increase and/or decrease. In conclusion, green tea consumption might act as a prebiotic and improve the colon environment by increasing the proportion of the Bifidobacterium species."43 Get the Most From Your TeaThere are three main varieties of tea: green, black and oolong. The differences have to do with how the leaves are processed. Interestingly, EGCG is sensitive to water temperature, so brewing in 80 degrees Celsius or 176 degrees Fahrenheit releases only 60% of the EGCG from the tea leaf.44 When measuring loose leaf tea, use a ratio of 1 tablespoon for every 8 ounces of water.45 Try drinking it hot while it's freshly brewed to get the most health benefits, rather than tea that might have been sitting for a few hours. One nutrient that plays a very important role in your immune system's ability to ward off viral infections is zinc. Zinc gluconate,1 zinc acetate2 and zinc sulphate3 have all been shown to reduce the severity and duration of viral infections such as the common cold. Zinc also appears to be the key ingredient in treatment protocols using hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). The reason for this is because HCQ is a zinc ionophore (zinc transport molecule),4,5 meaning it's a drug that improves your cells' uptake of zinc. Once inside your cells, zinc prevents viral replication.6 This is also why zinc and zinc ionophores need to be taken very early in the illness, or as a prophylactic. The problem is that zinc is largely insoluble and cannot easily enter through the fatty wall of your cells. Getting all the way into the cell is crucial, as this is where the viral replication occurs. This is why zinc ionophores are so important. Aside from hydroxychloroquine, other natural, and safer, zinc ionophores include quercetin and epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG). If given early, zinc along with a zinc ionophore should, at least theoretically, help lower the viral load and prevent the immune system from becoming overloaded. Zinc Is Crucial for Healthy Immune FunctionZinc is crucial for healthy immune function7 — like vitamin D, it actually helps regulate your immune function8 — and a combination of zinc with a zinc ionophore was in 2010 shown to inhibit SARS coronavirus in vitro. In cell culture, it also blocked viral replication within minutes.9 Importantly, zinc deficiency has been shown to impair immune function.10 As noted in a 2013 paper on zinc deficiency:11
Similarly, the September 2020 paper in Medical Hypotheses, "Does Zinc Supplementation Enhance the Clinical Efficacy of Chloroquine / Hydroxychloroquine to Win Todays Battle Against COVID-19?" points out that:12
Low Zinc Levels Increase COVID-19 Death RiskPreliminary data also suggest people with low zinc levels are more likely to die from COVID-19 than those with higher levels. The research13,14,15,16,17 was presented at the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (ESCMID) Conference on Coronavirus Disease,18 held online September 23 through September 25, 2020, and posted19 on the preprint server medRxiv October 11, 2020. In the video above, Dr. John Campbell reviews this and other zinc research. As noted by the authors of this study,20 "Zinc balances immune responses and also has a proven direct antiviral action against some viruses." As mentioned, zinc's primary antiviral action is to impair viral replication inside the cell. To evaluate the importance of plasma zinc levels on COVID-19 outcomes, the researchers did a retrospective analysis of 249 COVID-19 patients admitted to a hospital in Barcelona, Spain, between Mach 15 and April 30, 2020, for whom fasting plasma zinc levels were recorded. The average patient age was 63. Patients who had low zinc levels upon admission were found to have higher levels of inflammation during the course of their illness, and they were also more likely to die from complications related to COVID-19. Zinc Deficiency Linked to Poor COVID-19 OutcomesAnother paper22 reviewed by Campbell was published in the November 2020 issue of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases. Here, they found that people admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 related symptoms were more likely to be deficient in zinc than healthy controls. The median zinc level among hospitalized COVID-19 patients was 74.5 mcg/dl, compared to 105.8 mcg/dl in the control group. As reported by the authors:23
Importantly, while 70.4% of zinc deficient patients developed complications, only 30% of those with sufficient levels developed complications. As noted by Campbell, here we see that healthy controls had far higher zinc levels than patients with milder illness in the Spanish study. The hospitalized patients also had higher levels on average. This raises the question as to whether the Spanish cutoff level of 50 mcg/dl might be too low still. He points out that "normal" levels of zinc are between 72 mcg/dl and 144 mcg/dl. This seems to support the findings of the Spanish study, seeing how all of the patients were on the low side. Zinc Is a Key Component of MATH+ ProtocolAmong the most effective treatment protocols for COVID-19 is the MATH+ Protocol,24 developed by the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Working Group25 (FLCCC). In the interview above, Dr. Paul Marik explains how the COVID-19 critical care protocol grew out of his sepsis treatment (a core ingredient of which is vitamin C), as he and other doctors noticed there were many similarities between sepsis and severe COVID-19 infection, in particular the out-of-control inflammatory cascade. There are also distinct differences between the two conditions, and to address those, Marik and nine other physicians founded the FLCCC and began developing a modified protocol specifically for COVID-19. Zinc is one of the central components of this protocol. As of its July 2020 update, the protocol also includes the use of quercetin to facilitate zinc uptake. There are now MATH+ protocols26 for prophylaxis, mild symptoms that can be treated at home, and a full clinical in-hospital critical care protocol. The group has issued several updates since April 2020, so be sure to download the latest versions from the Eastern Virginia Medical School COVID Care for Clinicians site.27 Natural Zinc Transporters — Quercetin and EGCGAs mentioned, quercetin28 and EGCG are natural zinc ionophores that can do the same job as HCQ. According to a study29 published in 2014, many of the biological actions of quercetin and EGCG actually appear to be related to their ability to increase cellular zinc uptake. As explained by the authors:30
Aside from increasing zinc uptake, both quercetin and EGCG also inhibit 3CL protease31 — an enzyme used by SARS coronaviruses to infect healthy cells.32 As explained in a 2020 paper33 in Nature, 3CL protease "is essential for processing the polyproteins that are translated from the viral RNA." And, according to another 2020 study,34 the ability of quercetin, EGCG and certain other flavonoids to inhibit SARS coronaviruses "is presumed to be directly linked to suppress the activity of SARS-CoV 3CLpro in some cases." Niacin (vitamin B6) and selenium also improve the absorption and bioavailability of zinc. For example, a study35 published in 1991 demonstrated that when young women were on a vitamin B6-deficient diet, their serum zinc declined, suggesting B6 deficiency affected zinc metabolism such that "absorbed zinc was not available for utilization." A more in-depth exploration and explanation of both niacin and selenium's relationship to zinc is provided in the 2008 paper, "Zinc, Metallothioneins and Longevity: Interrelationships With Niacin and Selenium."36 More Support for QuercetinSupport for the use of quercetin against COVID-19 has also been reported by the Green Stars Project.37 Using the supercomputer SUMMIT, Oak Ridge National Lab researchers looked for molecules capable of inhibiting the COVID-19 spike protein from interacting with human cells. Quercetin is fifth on that list.38 Quercetin is also a potent antiviral in general. Zinc-to-Copper Ratio Can Impact Immune FunctionWhen it comes to zinc supplementation, more is not necessarily better. In fact, it can frequently backfire is you do not also maintain a healthy zinc-to-copper ratio. As explained by Chris Masterjohn, who has a Ph.D. in nutritional sciences,45 in an article46 and series of Twitter posts:47
Another factor to keep in mind is that certain additives can inhibit zinc absorption, which is the complete opposite of what you're looking for. For instance, research has shown citric acid, glycine, mannitol and sorbitol can reduce zinc absorption,48 so zinc lozenges containing these ingredients may be less useful. How Much Zinc Do You Need?That said, the recommended dietary allowance for zinc in the U.S is 11 mg for adult men and 8 mg for adult women, with slightly higher doses recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.49 As a prophylactic against COVID-19 and other viral infections, Masterjohn recommends taking 7 mg to 15 mg of zinc four times a day, ideally on an empty stomach, or with a phytate-free food. He also recommends getting at least 1 mg of copper from food and supplements for every 15 mg of zinc you take. Last but not least, remember there are many food sources of zinc, so a supplement may not be necessary. I eat about three-quarters of a pound of ground bison or lamb a day, which provides 20 mg of zinc. We've known for some time now that with diet, exercise and other interventions, you can radically reduce your risk of COVID-19. The focus of Hanscom’s COVID-19 prevention is on strengthening immune function through stress and anxiety reduction, and he has very specific and precise recommendations on how to do that. As explained by Hanscom, pain is largely a symptom of stress and anxiety, which in turn are predicated on inflammation more so than psychological factors.
Cytokines, Anxiety, Pain and Poor Immune FunctionCytokines are small proteins that serve to regulate different tissues. There are both proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines. Cytokines have specific relevance to COVID-19, as they modulate your immune system and its function. By reducing or resolving stress and anxiety, you lower levels of inflammatory cytokines, thereby allowing your immune system to function better. Hanscom has developed a working group that meets once a week to discuss and share information. Other members of the group include Stephen Porges, Ph.D., a behavioral neuroscientist who developed Polyvagal 30, and Dr. David Clawson, a podiatrist who is very knowledgeable about cytokines.
Anxiety Is a Symptom of InflammationWhen your autonomic nervous system becomes dysregulated, you can — as Hanscom did — go from feeling fine one day to having a panic attack out of the blue the next. He explains:
With regard to diet, there are several reasons for why processed foods cause inflammation. For starters, they tend to be very high in refined carbohydrates which, when consumed in excess, causes insulin resistance, thereby raising inflammatory cytokine production and massively increasing your risk of COVID-19. They’re also loaded with industrially processed omega-6 vegetable oils, which are proinflammatory. Lowering Inflammation Improves COVID-19 SurvivalAccording to Hanscom, removing the threat and creating a sense of safety not only lowers inflammatory markers and eliminates pain, it also improves your immune system’s ability to respond appropriately to fight off foreign invaders, be it SARS-CoV-2 or any other pathogen.
The Vagus NerveAs explained by Hanscom, your vagus nerve, the 10th cranial nerve which is the main part of your parasympathetic nervous system, acts as a brake on your sympathetic nervous system. Your sympathetic nervous system is activated in response to threats, whereas your parasympathetic nervous system is activated through the relaxation response.
How to Activate Relaxation Response and Lower InflammationSo, just how do you activate this vagal response to induce relaxation and lower your inflammatory markers? In the interview, Hanscom reviews several strategies known to do this, including the following: • Expressive writing -- According to Hanscom, there are more than 1,000 research papers showing expressive writing reduces viral load and inflammatory markers. How to do it: Simply write down your thoughts, then tear up the pages. As explained by Hanscom:
• Quality sleep -- For dozens of sleep hygiene tips, see “Sleep — Why You Need It and 50 Ways to Improve It.” • Forgiveness practice -- The antidote to anxiety is control. If you lose control, your body secretes more stress hormones, more cytokines, triggering anger and anxiety.
• Intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating -- There are several ways to do this. Some of the most common time-restricted eating schedules are summarized in “Intermittent Fasting May Prevent Diabetes.” One of the easiest is simply to restrict your eating to a six- to eight-hour window each day, making sure you eat your last meal at least three hours before bed. Research has shown time-restricted eating will significantly lower your inflammatory markers. • Exogenous ketones -- While time-restricted eating and intermittent fasting will boost your ketone production, you can also use a ketone supplement. Ketones catalyze metabolic pathways that reduce inflammation. For example, they inhibit NRLP3 inflammasome and activate NRF2. As explained by Hanscom, viruses also don’t like ketones: They like sugar, so they can help lower viral replication. His work group has developed a nutritional protocol they believe could help solve the pandemic, as it affects every step of the viral stage.

Your Sheriff Is the One Protecting Your Constitutional RightsUltimately, your local sheriff is in charge of actually enforcing whatever rules and regulations are laid down by state lawmakers, your city or county councils,3 and executive orders from city mayors or governors. Contrary to what some people think, mayors and governors don’t make laws — the state legislatures do that — but they can influence city and state legislation as well as invoke executive orders under certain circumstances.4 Sometimes sheriffs and local and state police may be asked by their mayor or governor to enforce an executive order. However, some sheriffs may refuse to do that, if they believe the executive order is unconstitutional. For example, some Michigan5 and Texas6 sheriffs informed their governors they won’t enforce mandatory mask orders since they aren’t actual laws. Knowing this, if you do not have a good sheriff who knows the Constitution and adheres to it, you could end up at the mercy of tyrannical government officials trying to create rules and orders outside the powers of your elected legislative officials. During this pandemic, we’ve seen quite a few mayors and governors implementing pandemic response mandates that violate the U.S. Constitution and infringe on civil liberties. The counterbalance to such overreaches is the local county sheriff. As explained by Mack:
The Brady BillMack is perhaps best known for suing the U.S. government over the Brady Bill, also known as the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act,7 signed into law by President Clinton in November 1993, which for the first time in U.S. history conscripted county sheriffs to enforce federal law.
The Constitution Protects Us From Our Best IntentionsHad it not been for Mack winning this lawsuit, sheriffs would not have had the legal ability to stand up against tyranny and protect Constitutional rights today. Hundreds of sheriffs have refused to enforce the often ridiculous and biased mandates issued by mayors and governors under the guise of protecting public health.
Another example is sheriff Sharon Wehrly in Nye County, Nevada. She is a lifetime member of the CSPOA. Pam Elliott in Edwards County, Texas, is also a Constitutional sheriff who has gone through CSPOA’s training.

Americans Jailed and Shot Over Unconstitutional RulesAmong the most egregious overreaches we’ve seen during this pandemic is the case of a supermarket security guard who shot a customer in the back for refusing to wear a mask. He is now charged with murder.12 Many of these mask mandates are in direct violation of the Constitution and shouldn’t be enforced to begin with, let alone get killed over.
Most of us would probably want a sheriff who will protect your civil liberties and personal freedoms. One area where your local sheriff might end up playing a crucial role is if they roll out forced vaccinations. Undoubtedly, that's the next step in this COVID-19 pandemic. I believe the orders to wear masks everywhere we go is a preliminary step in that direction. Were rules or laws enacted saying you must get the COVID-19 vaccine or you’ll be barred from various locations, your sheriff would be the one to either comply with such orders or refuse to enforce them. How Do You Get a Constitutional Sheriff in Your County?The question then becomes, how do you ensure your local sheriff understands and protects your rights under the Constitution? You basically have two options here. Either vote a Constitutional sheriff in, or educate the one you have.
Mack urges everyone to join the CSPOA — The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association. Its purpose is to create a partnership between the people, the sheriff and the local law enforcement chiefs. I encourage you to join me in supporting this worthy organization. Next, you need to vet your candidates. There are just under 3,100 sheriffs in the U.S., and as in all other professions, some are better educated and informed than others. In the case of sheriffs, it’s imperative that they understand, and vow to uphold, the Constitution of the United States.
Why Join the CSPOA?It’s important to realize the CSPOA is the only organization of its kind and helps educate sheriffs all around the country. Joining the CSPOA is really one of the most highly leveraged investments you could make to secure your personal liberties. Their funding comes from private donations and membership fees, which are then used to train sheriffs. The organization doesn’t even have any paid employees. But the sheriffs don’t flock there by themselves (although some might). The only way the organization can work is by getting citizens involved in the process.
Don’t All Sheriffs Already Know Everything They Need to Know?The training CSPOA offers is crucial, as the traditional training sheriffs receive is fairly inadequate with respect to the understanding and appreciation of their oath, which is to protect and uphold Constitutional rights. Many get distracted or confused by the belief or idea that they must enforce things that really are not within their scope of duty.
What Does It Mean to Take an Oath?As explained by Mack, Article 6 in the Constitution requires federal and state peace officers, including state officials, to swear an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Constitution. This is important, because when they do, liberty is protected at every level of government in all three branches. All agents, on local, state and federal levels, are supposed to be enforcing the principles in the Constitution. Looking around today, it’s clear that many do not, and part of the problem is that people do not understand what the oath they’re taking actually means.
The Best Way to Reform Our Police ForceAs noted by Mack, when you get sheriffs and police officers to understand that upholding the Constitution is their actual role, that this is their No. 1 job, the paradigm shifts from kicking in doors and arresting people for not wearing a mask to being a defender of liberty and a guard of the Constitution. It results in a mental paradigm shift.
Naturally, once a sheriff has been re-educated and is committed to the principles of being a defender of the Constitution, then they will typically train their entire police department, since the deputies are the ones with boots on the ground, answering most of the calls. Interestingly, Mack is now also working with a national health freedom organization. His goal with that organization is to start promoting health freedom and food freedom as well, using the Constitution as a guide. A deficiency can be serious and leads to a number of related changes, including personality disturbances, irritability and depression, along with a wide range of symptoms, including joint pain, “pins and needles” sensations, numbness and shortness of breath.2 One of the lesser known symptoms, however, may affect your voice. If you frequently experience hoarseness, a vitamin B12 deficiency could be to blame. Hoarseness, Vocal Fold Palsy Linked to B12 DeficiencyResearchers from the department of nutrition science at East Carolina University reviewed 89 case studies of vitamin B12 deficiency, looking for causes, clinical manifestations and outcomes.3 Neurological, psychiatric, oral, dermatological and other “rare signs and symptoms” were reported, signaling just how varied the symptoms can be. One of the case studies involved a 61-year-old man who suffered from vitamin B12 deficiency as a result of excessive alcohol consumption.4 His symptoms included gradually progressive hoarseness along with vocal fold palsy. Vocal fold palsy occurs when one or both vocal folds become paralyzed and do not move properly. If one vocal cord does not move properly, it can lead to a hoarse voice, whereas if both vocal folds aren’t working, it can cause trouble with breathing.5 Typically, vocal fold palsy is related to surgical procedures, such as thyroid surgery or carotid artery surgery, or neck or chest tumors, but often the cause is unknown. In the original case report, which was published in The Journal of Laryngology & Otology in 2011, the researchers wrote:6

Metformin Linked to B12 Deficiency, HoarsenessIn another case, a 55-year-old man with Type 2 diabetes also suffered from hoarseness, leading him to visit an otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) clinic. Bilateral vocal fold paralysis was detected as a result of vitamin B12 deficiency, and according to the researchers, the condition resolved after his vitamin B12 levels increased:8
In this case, the man had been taking insulin, valsartan and metformin for five years. Metformin, a diabetes drug, has previously been linked to vitamin B12 deficiency. In one study, average vitamin B12 levels were lower among those taking metformin, and 4% were deficient compared to 2% in the placebo group.9 Further, nearly 20% of those taking metformin had borderline low vitamin B12 levels compared to 10% of those taking a placebo. More people in the metformin group were also anemic, which is associated with vitamin B12 deficiency. The case-study researchers noted, “Physicians should be kept in mind that long term use of metformin could result vitamin B12 deficiency when assessing the etiology of vocal fold paralysis.”10 The Journal of Laryngology & Otology researchers also noted that it’s important for clinicians to consider vitamin B12 deficiency in the case of vocal fold palsy, stating, “It is important to consider vitamin B12 deficiency as a cause, as speedy identification and treatment can help prevent permanent neurological damage.”11 Some Vitamin B12 Deficiency Symptoms May Be MissedThe symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency can be subtle or mirror other conditions, putting them at risk of being overlooked or misdiagnosed by clinicians. One of the effects of deficiency is a blood condition called megaloblastic anemia. It causes the bone marrow to release immature blood cells,12 which are unable to deliver adequate amounts of oxygen to the body. The result is fatigue and pale skin. Those with megaloblastic anemia may also develop jaundice, a slight yellowing of the skin or eyes. Some with vitamin B12 deficiency also report experiencing eye twitching or eyelid spasms. In the featured study, a 74-year-old woman with B12 deficiency also experienced blurred vision, along with gait disturbances and problems with balance.13 Mental health problems can also be a sign of not enough B12, and it’s been observed that up to 30% of patients hospitalized for depression may be B12 deficient,14 while among the elderly with depressive disorders, those with B12 deficiency may be 70% more likely to experience depression. Those researchers went so far as to say that vitamin B12 may be causally related to depression.15 Vitamin B12 May Be Useful for COVID-19B vitamins also play an important role in cell functioning, energy metabolism and immune function, leading one group of researchers to suggest that they could be useful for treating COVID-19, and vitamin B status should be assessed in COVID-19 patients. “Vitamin B assists in proper activation of both the innate and adaptive immune responses, reduces proinflammatory cytokine levels, improves respiratory function, maintains endothelial integrity, prevents hypercoagulability and can reduce the length of stay in hospital,” researchers wrote in the journal Maturitas.16 In terms of vitamin B12, specifically, it modulates gut microbiota, and low levels may lead to increased inflammation and oxidative stress. A study also suggested that vitamin B12 supplements may reduce COVID-19-related organ damage and symptoms.17 Researchers with the Singapore General Hospital and Duke-NUS Medical School also set out to determine if a combination of vitamin D, magnesium and vitamin B12 would improve outcomes among COVID-19 patients aged 50 and older. Seventeen patients received oral vitamin D3 (1,000 IU), magnesium (150 milligrams (mg)) and vitamin B12 (500 mcg) — together known as DMB — upon admission for a median of five days while 26 patients who did not receive DMB served as the control group.18 Significant benefits were seen among the DMB group, with only 17.6% requiring initiation of oxygen therapy during their hospitalization, compared to 61.5% of those in the control group. The requirement for oxygen is associated with an increased risk of needing intensive care, and the DMB group also benefited in this area. Among those in the DMB group who required supplemental oxygen (three out of the 17 patients), two required ICU admission while one did not. Among the control group, all of those who needed supplemental oxygen required further ICU support. Nine of the DMB patients were given the combination within the first week of the onset of symptoms, and only one among them required oxygen therapy. The researchers explained that vitamin D, magnesium and vitamin B12 present a unique three-pronged approach for tackling COVID-19, noting, “Vitamin B12 is essential in supporting a healthy gut microbiome which has an important role in the development and function of both innate and adaptive immune systems.”19 Who’s at Risk of Vitamin B12 Deficiency?It’s been suggested that nearly two-fifths of Americans may have lower than ideal B12 levels, with 9% deficient and 16% below 185 pmol/L, which is considered marginally deficient.20 While vegetarians and vegans are susceptible since B12 is derived from animal products, even meat eaters may be deficient, as problems with absorption are common. B12 is tightly bound to proteins and high acidity is required to break this bond. Some people may not have sufficient stomach acid to separate the B12 from the protein. Advancing age may also diminish your ability to absorb the vitamin from food and increase your risk of deficiency, as may any of the following scenarios:
In adults, B12 deficiency can develop in about six years, which is how long it takes to deplete your body's B12 stores.26 So, it’s important to be aware of your intake and catch a B12 deficiency early, as impaired brain and nerve development can be very difficult to correct once the damage is done. Regularly eating B12-rich foods, such as grass fed beef liver, wild rainbow trout and wild sockeye salmon, is important to maintain adequate levels, but if you suspect you may be deficient, weekly B12 shots or a high-dose, daily supplement may be necessary. Most people are surrounded by electronics and wireless devices that harvest every imaginable data point about your personal life. Digital currency stands at the ready to complete the net of tyranny. Engineering ContagionI’ve written many articles reviewing the scientific evidence supporting the claim that SARS-CoV-2 is a laboratory creation. Whether the pathogen was released accidentally or on purpose is probably less important than establishing the truth of its origin. The reason I say that is because intent would be hard to prove, while the fact that we’re still engineering bioweapons is unquestionable — and, as long as we continue dangerous gain-of-function research, the end result can only be more of the same. More outbreaks. More pandemics. More fear. Increased control. More restrictions. Fewer freedoms. If we want to dismantle the bioterrorism threat narrative, we have to address the research that makes this threat a possibility in the first place. Documents obtained via FOIA reveals anthrax, an already deadly pathogen, is being genetically manipulated to express the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, the part of the virus that allows it to gain access into human cells. This clearly has little to do with staying a step ahead of nature, seeing how bacteria are not likely to mix with and take on characteristics of a virus if left to their own devices. Democracy Under ThreatAs noted by Dr. Reiner Fuellmich2 — co-founder of the German Corona Extra-Parliamentary Inquiry Committee3,4 that is preparing the biggest class-action lawsuit in history5,6,7,8 — scientists, lawyers, medical professionals and academics are increasingly recognizing that the deliberate fear-mongering that has kept the COVID-19 pandemic alive well past its expiration date threatens to replace democracy with “fascist totalitarian models” of government. Fortunately, more and more of them are now starting to realize that they must speak out, before it’s too late. Case in point, a Journal of Law and the Biosciences paper9 by Stephen Thompson and Eric C. Ip, both from the University of Hong Kong, titled “COVID-19 Emergency Measures and the Impending Authoritarian Pandemic,” which reads, in part:
Bioterrorism Narrative Used to Fuel FearOver the past several years, the threat of bioterrorism and viruses in general have been highlighted as one of the most serious threats to mankind. Bill Gates, who invests in and profits from pandemic vaccines, has been priming the public to fear the emergence of deadly diseases for years. In 2015, he warned his TED Talk audience that the next big threat to humanity would be “a highly infectious virus” that “we are not ready for,”10 and in 2017 he predicted tens of millions could be killed by bioweapons.11
Of course, Gates also co-hosted the October 2019 pandemic preparedness simulation known as Event 201, along with the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and the World Economic Forum. The event eerily predicted what would happen 10 weeks later, when COVID-19 appeared. This scripted tabletop exercise included everything we now see playing out in the real world, from PPE shortages, lockdowns and removal of civil liberties to mandated vaccination campaigns, riots, economic turmoil and the breakdown of social cohesion. They even got the type of virus right: a “novel coronavirus.” The detailed working paper13 “Bioterrorism and Biocrimes: The Illicit Use of Biological Agents Since 1900,” originally published in 1998 and revised in 2001, reviews some 270 suspected biowarfare incidents on record. Considering that paper is now nearly 20 years old, that list is likely to be even longer today. This list may even include SARS-CoV-2, if we are to believe Francis Boyle, who drafted the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, and others. Technocracy RisingAnother medical professional who is now speaking openly about the COVID-19 pandemic being a brazen power-grab by the technocratic elite is Dr. Lee Merritt, an orthopedic spinal surgeon with a medical practice in Logan, Iowa.14 August 16, 2020, she delivered a speech at the Doctors for Disaster Preparedness15 convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured in “How Medical Technocracy Made the Plandemic Possible,” in which she dissected the many fear-inducing lies we’ve been told about this pandemic. When you look at the actual data and statistics available, and compare them to what we’re being told by government officials and the media, it becomes evident that there’s a gulf between the two. The data tells us SARS-CoV-2 is not the existential threat it’s been made out to be. That in turn begs the question: “Why do they want us to live in fear? Surely, there must be a reason for it." Of course there is, and it has nothing to do with making sure you and your family remain healthy and safe from infection. The big picture emerging seems to point in one direction, and that is the implementation of a long-standing plan to usher in and permanently establish a technocratic society. In summary, technocracy16,17 is an economic ideology built around totalitarian rule by unelected leaders. A technocrat is someone who exercises power over you on the basis of their knowledge. As an economic system, technocracy is resource-based. Under this system, companies are told what resources they’re allowed to use, when, and for what, and consumers are told what to buy. Social Engineering Is in Full SwingThe technocratic system also requires social engineering, which relies on massive data collection and the use of artificial intelligence. Technocrats have silently and relentlessly pushed this agenda forward ever since the 1930s, and signs of its implementation are becoming increasingly visible. In a few short months, we’ve been dramatically shifted from a state of freedom to a state of totalitarianism, and the way that was done was through social engineering, which of course involves psychological manipulation. Censoring and propaganda are but two strategies that shape and mold a population. The Trampling of Privacy and Human RightsThe technocracy’s fingerprints are also evident in the invasive, privacy-shredding tracking and tracing programs that have been rolled out around the world, and the repeated warning that unless every man, woman and child gets vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, life will never go back to normal. The truth is, the technocrats have no intention of ever letting us go back to normal. The plan is to alter society permanently. Part of that alteration is the removal of civil liberties and human rights, and it is now happening at breakneck speed. As reported by Alex Berenson in a September 30, 2020, Twitter post,20 real-world experience suggests mobile phone carriers, including AT&T and Verizon, are already providing data to state governments for quarantines and contact tracing purposes without your knowledge or consent, even though we’ve been told track and trace apps would be voluntary. We’re also being bombarded with news reports telling us to prepare to roll up our sleeves and get vaccinated as soon as a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available — or else. An October 1, 2020, article21 in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine bemoans a poll that found only 49% of Americans plan to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it comes out. The answer, the article suggests, is to make it mandatory for all. Written by lawyers at Stanford Law School and other health policy experts, the article outlines what the authors claim are “six substantive criteria” that would support the first vaccine ever to be mandated for adults, outside of the flu vaccine for health care workers. Recognizing that it’s the individual states, not the federal government, that would do the mandating, the authors also review measures that states would need to implement in order to pull off a mandate. “State mandates should not be structured as compulsory vaccination (absolute requirements); instead, noncompliance should incur a penalty,” the authors say, adding that this penalty should be “substantive,” in the form of employment suspension or stay-at-home orders. If refusing a vaccine results in you being denied an income and forced into house arrest, then it’s not really voluntary, is it? It’s as compulsory as it gets. Along with Gates, Dr. Anthony Fauci has also been priming the public consciousness throughout the pandemic by warning that, without a vaccine, we’ll never be able to go back to normal.22 All this talk is about forced vaccination, despite the complete lack of assurance that any of the vaccine candidates are safe. Emerging evidence actually suggests the novel mRNA vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 could be a public health disaster in the making. An October 1, 2020, report23 by CNBC reviews the experiences of five participants in Moderna’s and Pfizer’s SARS-CoV-2 vaccine trials. One of the participants in Pfizer’s vaccine trial “woke up with chills, shaking so hard he cracked a tooth after taking the second dose,” CNBC reports.24 A Moderna trial participant said he had a low-grade fever and felt “under the weather” for several days after his first shot. Eight hours after his second shot he was “bed-bound with a fever of over 101, shakes, chills, a pounding headache and shortness of breath. He said the pain in his arm, where he received the shot, felt like a ‘goose egg on my shoulder.’ He hardly slept that night, recording that his temperature was higher than 100 degrees for five hours.”25 Two others reported similar side effects, and a third warned you would need to take a day off after the second shot. CNBC also noted that “as companies progressed through clinical trials, several vaccine makers abandoned their highest doses following reports of more severe reactions.” Russian Intelligence: COVID-19 Is a ‘False Pandemic’The legal eagles of the German Corona Extra-Parliamentary Inquiry Committee26,27 are not the only ones calling the COVID-19 pandemic out as a fraud and cover-up of a more nefarious agenda. In the video above, Vladimir Kvachkov, a former colonel of Russian military intelligence, calls COVID-19 a false pandemic, planned and implemented with the goal of gaining totalitarian control over the world population. It started with 9/11, Kvachkov says, and the coronavirus is the next step to continue the power grab.
Comparing it to a military exercise, Kvachkov says the ultimate aim is to reduce the world’s population to 1 billion “ordinary” people and just 100 million of those in control — with the ordinary people being there to serve the 100 million. In short, he says, the “artificially created” and “purposely spread” coronavirus has four dimensions. The first is religion and population reduction; the second is to establish political control over humanity; the third is to deflate the world economy; and the fourth is to eliminate geo-economic competition. COVID-19 Rules Mark ‘Hysterical Slide Into Police State’I’ll end this with some observations by British Supreme Court Judge Lord Sumption, who in a March 30, 2020, interview28 with The Post warned that COVID-19 rules are paving the way for despotism — the exercise of absolute power in a cruel and oppressive manner.
It is time to ask ourselves some very pressing questions. Is it reasonable to expect government to eliminate ALL infection and ALL death? They’ve proven they cannot, yet we keep relinquishing more and more freedoms and liberties because they claim doing so will keep everyone safer. It’s an enticing lie, but a lie nonetheless. Remember, they sold us on the business shutdowns and home quarantining by saying we just need to flatten the curve of infection to avoid hospital overcrowding. Now, hospitals are near-empty and deaths are so low they’re not even reported anymore. Yet lockdowns remain in many areas and some — Australia being a prime example — have reached shocking new heights. Sooner or later everyone must decide which is more important: Personal liberty or false security? Pandemics Are a Tool of Social ControlFor decades, war and the threat of war has enriched the technocratic elite and kept the population going along with their agenda. War and physical attacks have been repeatedly used to foist ever more draconian restrictions upon us and remove our liberties. The Patriot Act, rammed through in the aftermath of 9/11, is just one egregious example. Today, pandemics and the threat of infectious outbreaks are the new tools of war and social control. We need to maintain our distance from others, including family members. We need to wear masks, even in our own homes and during sex. We need to close down small businesses and work from home. We must track and trace everyone, every moment of the day and night, and install biometric readers into everyone’s bodies to identify who the potential risk-carriers are. Infected people are the new threat. This is what the technocratic elite wants you to believe, and they’ve succeeded to convince a shocking ratio of the global population of this in just a few short months. A New Digital Currency System UnderwayTwo of the last pieces of the totalitarian takeover will be the transition to an all-digital currency linked to digital IDs. With that, enforcement of social rules will be more or less ensured, as your finances, indeed your entire identity, can easily be held hostage if you fail to comply. Just think how easy it would be to automate it such that if you fail to get your mandated vaccine, or post something undesirable on the internet, your bank account becomes unavailable or your biometric ID won’t allow you entry into your office building. An August 13, 2020, article3 on the Federal Reserve website discusses the supposed benefits of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). There’s general agreement among experts that most major countries will implement CBDC within the next two to four years. An all-digital currency system also plays into social engineering, as it can be used to incentivize desired behaviors, very similar to what China is doing with their social credit system. For example, you might get a certain amount of digital currency but you have to buy a certain item or perform a particular task within a certain timeframe. Many uninformed people will believe that these new CBDCs will be very similar to existing cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, but they would be seriously mistaken. Bitcoin is decentralized and a rational strategy to opt out of the existing central bank controlled system, while these CBDCs will be centralized and completely controlled by the central banks. It just so happens that as you trace the connections between the decision-makers of the world, you’ll find him in an astonishing number of places. For example, In October 2019, Gates co-hosted a pandemic preparedness simulation for a “novel coronavirus,” known as Event 201, along with the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and the World Economic Forum. The event eerily predicted what would happen just 10 weeks later, when COVID-19 appeared. Gates and the World Economic Forum, in turn, are both partnered4 with the United Nations which, while keeping a relatively low profile, appears to be at the heart of the globalist takeover agenda. Gates is also the largest funder of the World Health Organization — the medical branch of the U.N., while the World Economic Forum is the social and economic branch of the U.N. The Fourth Industrial Revolution Is the Technocratic AgendaIn decades past, the technocrats, the global, mostly unelected, elite that steer the management of nations worldwide, called for a “new world order.” Today, the NWO has been largely replaced with terms like “the Great Reset,”6 “the Fourth Industrial Revolution,”7 and the slogan “Build Back Better.”8 All of these terms and slogans refer to the same long-term globalist agenda to dismantle democracy and national borders in favor of a global governance by unelected leaders, and the reliance on technological surveillance rather than the rule of law to maintain public order. As expressed by Matt Hancock, the British Minister for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, during a speech before the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Fourth Industrial Revolution in 2017:9
The Great Reset — A Techno-Fascist RecipeIf you listened to my interview with Wood, you will recognize the technocratic elements of Hancock’s speech: the focus on technology — in particular artificial intelligence, digital surveillance and Big Data collection (which is what 5G is for) — and the digitization of industry (which includes banking) and government, which in turn allows for the automation of social engineering and social rule (although that part is never expressly stated). Then there’s the direct reference to professor Klaus Schwab, chairman of the World Economic Forum. Schwab is also highlighted in the June 29, 2020, Technocracy.news article,10 “The Elite Technocrats Behind the Global ‘Great Reset,” which reads, in part:11
UN Calls for Nations to ‘Build Back Better’The U.N.’s central role in the technocratic agenda is hard to miss once you start looking. As reported by the U.N.’s Department of Global Communications April 22, 2020, in an article about climate change and COVID-19:13
Here too, we see the technocratic agenda shining through. As described by Wood (see interview hyperlinked above), technocracy is an economic system based on the allocation of energy resources, which necessitates social engineering to control the population and the technological infrastructure to automate this control. Rather than being driven by supply and demand and free enterprise, this system is one in which companies are told what resources they’re allowed to use, when, and for what, and consumers are told what they are allowed to buy — or rather, rent, judging by the World Economic Forum video above. If you need something, you’ll be allowed to rent it. You probably won’t even own the clothes on your back. Everything will be “fair” and “equitable.” There will be no need for hard work, ingenuity or higher-than-average intelligence. Everyone will be the same — with the exception of the technocrats themselves, of course. And in true social engineering fashion, they tell us we will be “happy” in our 24/7 enslavement to boot. The Encroaching DystopiaIt’s important to realize that one way by which this globalist plan is being pushed forward is through the creation of new global laws. Gates already wields powerful influence over global food and agriculture policy, in addition to his influence over global health and technology (including banking and digital IDs). The Great Reset, or the “build back better” plan, specifically calls for all nations to implement “green” regulations as part of the post-COVID recovery effort. It sounds like a worthwhile endeavor — after all, who doesn’t want to protect the environment? But the end goal is far from what the typical person envisions when they hear these plans. The end goal is to turn us into serfs without rights to privacy, private ownership or anything else. To get an idea of just how dystopian a future we might be looking at, consider Microsoft’s international patent14 WO/2020/060606 for a “cryptocurrency system using body activity data.” The international patent was filed June 20, 2019. The U.S. patent office application,15 16128518, was filed September 21, 2018. As explained in the abstract:16
The U.S. patent application includes the following flow chart summary of the process:17 This patent, if implemented, would essentially turn human beings into robots. If you’ve ever wondered how the average person will make a living in the AI tech-driven world of the future, this may be part of your answer. People will be brought down to the level of mindless drones, spending their days carrying out tasks automatically handed out by, say a cellphone app, in return for a cryptocurrency “award.” I don’t know about you, but I can think of better, more enjoyable ways to spend my time here on Earth. The World Economic Forum — A Trojan HorseI’ve mentioned the World Economic Forum multiple times already in this article, and it, along with the U.N., is at the heart of the global takeover agenda. As noted in the Canadian Truth blog post,18 “World Economic Forum Wheel of Evil”:
The blog post includes the following illustration, created and released by the World Economic Forum, showing the widespread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the global response to it. If you go to the original site for the illustration,19 you’ll also find listings of publications, videos and data relating to all of these facets. In short, the pandemic is being used to destroy the local economies around the world, which will then allow the World Economic Forum to come in and “rescue” debt-ridden countries. As mentioned earlier, the price for this salvation is your liberty. The World Economic Forum will, through its financial bailouts, be able to effectively control most countries in the world. And, again, one of the aspects of the technocratic plan is to eliminate nation borders and nationalism in general. COVID — Symptoms of PowerThere’s a lot more that could be said on this, but I’ve already covered many of the different aspects of the globalists agenda in other articles, including “COVID Symptoms of Power: Tech Billionaires Harvest Humanity,” “Tech Billionaires Aiming at a Global Currency,” “Harvard Professor Exposes Surveillance Capitalism,” “How Medical Technocracy Made the Plandemic Possible” and “US Surveillance Bill 6666: The Devil in the Details.” None of it is pleasant reading, but it’s important to understand where we’re headed. We no longer have the luxury of sticking our heads in the sand and waiting for the bad news to pass. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically widened the economic gap between average people and the wealthy elite, with billionaires raking in trillions of dollars in mere months.20,21 Without the competition from small businesses, large multinational companies have been allowed to gobble up business, expanding both their wealth and their influence, while extreme poverty has risen for the first time in two decades.22 If you think the Great Reset and the Green New Deal are going to even out this financial disparity and turn the world into an equitable Utopia, you’re bound to be disappointed. The globalist plan isn’t about creating a better world for the average person. Microsoft’s patent illustrates what the plan heralds for us. Medical Tyranny Will Get Worse if We Let ItThe medical tyranny and censorship of anti-groupthink that has emerged full-force during this pandemic are also part and parcel of the Great Reset. After all, if they won’t allow you to own anything, and they want to put biosensors into your body to turn you into a cryptocurrency mining minion, do you really think they’re going to let you make medical decisions for yourself? Over the past several months, Gates has made the media rounds discussing the need to silence dissenting views and information about the virus, it’s treatment and the vaccines being made. According to a survey cited by RT,23 less than half of all Americans now say they would not take the COVID-19 vaccine even if they were paid $100 to do it. There are good reasons for this hesitancy, as trials are starting to reveal serious side effects. For Gates, who is funding no fewer than six different COVID-19 vaccines, this is no small problem. In an October 2020 interview, Gates urged American health officials to start “thinking about which voices will help reduce the hesitancy, so we can get a level of vaccination that really has a chance of stopping” the pandemic.24 Despite the risks associated with these novel mRNA vaccines, which have never before been approved for human use, and despite the fact that children and adolescents have a minuscule risk of serious illness or death from COVID-19, vaccine proponents like Dr. Paul Offit are now calling for children to be added to the COVID-19 trials.25 Hopefully, the number of parents willing to offer up their children as guinea pigs will be few. In closing, keep in mind that technocracy is inherently a technological society run through social engineering. This is why there’s such a strong focus on “science.” Anytime someone dissents, they’re therefore accused of being “anti-science,” and any science that conflicts with the status quo is declared “debunked science.” The only science that matters is whatever the technocrats deem true. Logic, however, will tell you that this cannot be so. Science is never settled. Science is never one-sided. Science can be wrong. Getting to the truth demands that an issue be looked at from many different angles. Over the past year in particular, scientific inquiry and inquisitiveness has been censored and stifled to an astonishing degree. If we allow it to continue, the end result will be devastating. We must keep pushing for transparency and truth. We must insist on medical freedom and personal liberty. Resist tyranny. from http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2020/10/23/world-economic-forum-prediction-global-takeover.aspx The diagnosis of cancer can trigger strong emotions of fear, anger, anxiety and sadness.1 The National Cancer Institute estimates 606,520 people will die from cancer in 2020, or 1,661 people each day.2 They also estimate there will be 1,806,590 new cases diagnosed. That is an astounding 4,949 people who will receive a diagnosis of cancer every day in 2020. Breast, lung, prostate and colorectal are the most common types of cancers. In 2020, prostate, lung and colorectal cancers will account for an estimated 43% of all cancers in men. The three most diagnosed cancers in women are breast, lung and colorectal, which will total an estimated 50% of all new diagnoses. The worldwide statistics are just as overwhelming: In 2018, 18.1 million people learned they had cancer and 9.5 million died from it. Experts expect these numbers to rise precipitously by 2040, when 29.5 million will learn they have cancer and 16.4 million will die of some form of the disease. Although many publications have stated that nearly 90% of deaths in people who die from cancer are from metastases, the leaders of one nationwide study found the percentage of metastatic deaths from solid tumors to be 66.7%.3 One Bacteria May Be Implicated in Cancer MetastasisIn the past year, three separate research teams found that Fusobacterium nucleatum plays an unexpected and an active role in the metastasis of colon cancer. The first connection was discovered nearly nine years ago when researchers found the bacterium's DNA in colon tumor tissue. Since then, other scientists have found that an infection by this bacterium in tumor cells raises the risk of poor prognosis, resistance to chemotherapy and metastases in colorectal cancer.4 Chronologically, the first paper was published by a group of scientists working to assess the function Fusobacterium nucleatum has on colorectal metastasis. They found an abundance of bacteria in tissue from patients with metastasis. Based on the data, they concluded that the bacteria orchestrates autophagy to control metastasis and that targeting it can be used to devise strategies to prevent and treat colorectal metastases.5 In a second study, the researchers began with the understanding that the presence of the bacteria is associated with poor patient outcomes; however they sought to clarify whether it was involved in metastasis.6 The results from their animal study indicated that an infection of the tumor promoted migration within the body. Specifically, they found metastasis to the lungs induced by changes in genetic regulation. In a third laboratory study, doctors used cultured human colon tumor cells and found that when the bacteria invaded the colorectal cells it induced the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines IL-8 and CXCL1.7 Both are associated with the promotion of cell migration, which is a step in metastasis.8 They concluded that the findings demonstrated a direct and indirect modulation of cell signaling and migration.9 The bacterium is supposed to help fight the cancer, but instead, it actually makes it worse. Biochemist Daniel Slade said it is “… like throwing gas on an already lit fire.”10 Microbiologists from Hebrew University reported some of the same findings from a study of breast tumors in which F. nucleatum was found in 30% of the tissue examined. Interestingly, it was most common in cancer cells with surface sugar molecules. The infection appears to promote growth and metastasis in animal models of breast cancer. Microbiologist Gilad Bachrach told a reporter from Scientific American that “The data imply that fusobacterium is not a cause of cancer, but it can accelerate progression.”11 There Are Also Fungal Connections to CancerIn 2011 ScienceBasedMedicine.org shamed Dr. Oz for allowing me on his show.12 One of the reasons they gave was that I had at one time published information about a novel hypothesis — that cancer may be caused by a common fungus and therefore treatable with baking soda. Two early proponents of this hypothesis, Tullio Simoncini13 and Dr. Mark Sircus14 were unsuccessful in their attempts to get conventional medicine to take them seriously and have been maligned and marginalized for promoting the ideas. Yet in October 2019, The New York Times15 published an article reporting the findings of a study published in the prestigious journal Nature. According to the researchers:16
Specifically, it was a fungal community — Malassezia — found in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma tumors.17 The team discovered that killing the mycobiome exerted a protective effect, which slowed the progression of the tumor. When these tumors in an animal model were repopulated with the fungus, it accelerated tumor growth. As reported in The New York Times:18
An Ounce of PreventionWhile the information about the role that bacteria and fungi play in the progression or metastasis of cancer is important, it is also crucial to remember that an ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure. Many of the small lifestyle choices we make each day have long-term effects on overall health. One of the preventive measures your physician may recommend is a colonoscopy as a screening tool for colorectal cancer. However, it's important to consider all the factors before undergoing the procedure, as I discuss in “Is a Colonoscopy Worth the Risk?” A simple preventive measure you can begin at home without a prescription is optimizing your mitochondrial health. Since cancer is a metabolic disease and not a genetic one as I’ve thoroughly covered in past articles, when your mitochondria are healthy and functional your chances of getting cancer are greatly reduced. The traditionally held view has been that cancer is a genetic disease. However, the past work of Dr. Otto Warburg, who received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1931 for the discovery of the metabolism of malignant cells, tells a different story.19 He realized that cancer is triggered by a defect in cellular energy metabolism which occurs primarily in the mitochondria.20 In his time, mitochondria were not well understood. But scientists now have a better grasp of how these small powerhouses provide energy and function within the body. In 2016 we presented the Mercola.com Game Changer Award to Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D., professor of biology at Boston College and a leading expert and researcher in the field of cancer metabolism and nutritional ketosis. As noted in my past article, “Top Tips to Optimize Your Mitochondrial Health,” Seyfried said the problem is not that physicians and researchers don't understand the science behind the metabolic theory of cancer, it’s that accepting it would change their approach to treatment. Cancer Origin Would Change Treatment StrategiesIf defective mitochondria are responsible for the observable characteristics of cancer, then how would the disease be treated? His compilation of research from independent and well-respected scientists within various disciplines was, in my view, one of his biggest contributions to this science. He put this work together to form a scientific foundation for the theory that cancer is a metabolic disease and not a genetic one. He believes that genetic mutations are a downstream effect of defective energy metabolism in the mitochondria and not the trigger for the development of a cancerous growth. The idea that cancer is a genetic disease determines research funding for treatment and fuels the entire cancer industry. In 2018 Seyfried was interviewed by Dr. Peter Attia,21 who published the podcast on his site. In the interview, he provides details about the mechanics of cancer, why cancer cells grow and how conventional medicine may have gotten it wrong when it comes to treatment. Toward the end of the interview Seyfried shared suggestions for those considering cancer treatment, such as:
Seyfried recommends using a ketogenic diet to support mitochondrial health. The mechanism of action is clear with regard to attacking cancer cells. It is based on the pioneering findings of Warburg and the nature and action of cellular respiration. How Metabolic Therapy May Help Prevent and Treat CancersSeyfried’s research demonstrates that cancer growth and progression can be managed using whole body transformation from fermentable metabolites, such as glucose and glutamine, to respiratory metabolites, primarily ketone bodies that form when you follow a ketogenic diet. In my article, “Why Cancer Needs To Be Treated as a Metabolic Disease,” I discuss Seyfried’s research in which he found that the transition reduces tumor vascularity and inflammation while enhancing tumor cell death. The diet takes advantage of the fact that cancer cells prefer anaerobic (without oxygen) fermentation to derive energy, causing an overproduction of lactic acid. Although aerobic (using oxygen) respiration is more efficient, cancer cells behave differently than normal cells and continue to produce massive amounts of lactic acid, even in environments of 100% oxygen. This caused Warburg to conclude that the respiratory system in cancer cells is defective. In this case, the respiratory system does not refer to the lungs of an organism but rather how a cell processes oxygen. It is estimated that 5% to 10% of all cancers are caused by gene mutations, or an inherited genetic risk factor.22 BRCA1, which raises the risk for breast cancer and BRCA2, which raises the risk for ovarian cancer, are examples. However, Seyfried notes that these mutations do not guarantee you will develop cancer, unless it damages the mitochondrial respiratory system. The take-home message is that if your mitochondrial respiration remains healthy, your risk of cancer is relatively low. So, what lifestyle choices will help to keep your mitochondria healthy? Primarily, avoiding toxic environmental factors and implementing healthy lifestyle strategies will influence your mitochondrial health. This is the sole focus of metabolic mitochondrial therapy described in my book “Fat for Fuel.” There are six strategies that top my list for helping optimize your mitochondrial health. They include cyclical nutritional ketosis, meal timing, normalizing iron levels and specific nutritional supplements. You can read about them in “Why Cancer Needs To Be Treated as a Metabolic Disease.” Restricting Glucose in Cancer Treatment Essential to SuccessIn 1971, U.S. President Richard Nixon declared war on cancer and signed the National Cancer Act.23 The goal was to make a national commitment to find a cure. Since then, many chemotherapeutic and surgical treatments have been developed. Chemotherapy has been a primary treatment used in cancer alongside the surgical resection of solid tumors. The objective of chemotherapy has been to destroy cancer cells so they do not recur.24 However, chemo, which is technically a poison, travels through the entire body and affects every cell. Seyfried recommends a strategic approach to address cancer by cleaning up the microenvironment. Among certain populations, particularly older Americans, the prevalence of high blood pressure rises to more than 50%, making it a significant burden for public health, as high blood pressure is a major risk factor for coronary, cerebrovascular and peripheral vascular disease, along with heart attack and stroke.2 Medications are the first line of treatment for high blood pressure in conventional medicine, but such drugs carry “burdensome” side effects that often cause people to stop taking them, researchers noted in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, adding — importantly — that lifestyle modification and mind-body interventions may be at least as effective as drug treatment and are generally free of side effects.3 Their study revealed, in fact, that mind-body practices that trigger your body’s relaxation response, such as meditation, play an important role in lowering blood pressure by favorably influencing a recently identified set of genes and biological pathways.4 The Power of Your Relaxation ResponseOne of the ways that meditation works to calm the body and mind is by triggering the relaxation response,5 which is the opposite of the fight-or-flight response that occurs due to stress. By focusing on a word, phrase or repetitive prayer and disregarding everyday thoughts, the relaxation response is said to be activated,6 a process that’s similar to what occurs during mindfulness meditation, transcendental meditation and other meditative practices. Once the relaxation response is elicited, biochemical changes are known to occur, including decreased oxygen consumption, blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, and alterations in cortical and subcortical brain regions.7 In 2013, researchers revealed that relaxation response practice enhanced the expression of genes associated with energy metabolism, mitochondrial function and insulin secretion while reducing the expression of genes linked to inflammation and stress-related pathways,8 signaling its profound power within the body. They also revealed, for the first time, that engaging in practices that evoke your body’s relaxation response, particularly when they’re done over the long term, “may evoke its downstream health benefits by improving mitochondrial energy production and utilization and thus promoting mitochondrial resiliency …”9 Meditation May Lower Blood Pressure by Altering Genetic ExpressionAs it relates to blood pressure, researchers with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH revealed specific genes associated with the relaxation response that may reveal why it’s so beneficial for blood pressure.10 “In this study, we found that the relaxation response can successfully help reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients who are not taking medication,” study author Dr. Randall Zusman, director of the division of hypertension at MGH, said in a news release.11 The study involved 58 people with Stage 1 hypertension, which the study defined as having a systolic blood pressure between 140 and 159mm Hg and diastolic between 90 and 104mm Hg. It should be noted that, in 2017, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association published new guidelines that changed what was officially considered “high” blood pressure, and via these guidelines, blood pressure at or above 140/90 mm Hg is considered Stage 2 hypertension.12 None of the patients was taking medications to control their blood pressure at the start of the study, during which participants attended eight weekly sessions of mind-body interventions designed to elicit the relaxation response. This included mindfulness meditation along with mantra repetition and diaphragmatic breathing. The participants also used a guided audio CD to help invoke the relaxation response once a day while at home. Of the 24 participants who completed the eight-week intervention, 13 had a significant drop in blood pressure, such that they were no longer considered to have Stage 1 hypertension. The researchers then conducted a gene expression analyses to look for differences in gene expression among those who had responded to the mind-body intervention and those who had not. The expression of 1,771 genes differed among the two groups, and the study revealed that the reduction in blood pressure was related to genes involved in:13

Research Mounts That Meditation Works for High Blood PressureThe calming effect of meditation has been shown in numerous studies to benefit blood pressure. In a 2019 study published in the Journal of Human Hypertension, mindfulness meditation was evaluated for its effects on not only blood pressure but also anxiety, stress and depression. For an eight-week period, participants engaged in mindfulness training for two hours a week, or participated in a control group involving health education talks. The meditation group had lower blood pressure monitoring values after the intervention, and were also less judgmental, more accepting and less depressed than the control group.15 Practicing "mindfulness" means you're actively paying attention to the moment you're in right now. Rather than letting your mind wander, when you're mindful, you're living in the moment and letting distracting thoughts pass through your mind without getting caught up in their emotional implications. Another group of researchers conducted a meta-analysis involving 13 studies on meditation and yoga for blood pressure health. Blood pressure decreased in response to both meditation and yoga, and meditation appeared to be particularly useful in decreasing the blood pressure of subjects older than 60 years.16 In another example, meditation exercises, particularly qigong, were useful for lowering diastolic blood pressure in people with elevated levels,17 while research shows meditation may also help lower blood pressure with just three months of practice, while at the same time decreasing psychological distress and increasing coping ability among young adults.18 More Reasons to MeditateIn addition to promoting your body’s relaxation response, meditation offers a host of additional benefits, including reducing stress via stress-reduction pathways in your body.19 As explained via a press release:20
High blood pressure is just one such stress-related disease,21 and meditation offers a simple, inexpensive tool to help manage stress that can be practiced virtually anytime, anywhere. Beyond stress, meditation can be a powerful pain reliever,22 and research from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) supports the notion that meditation acts as a form of "mental exercise" that can help regulate your attention and emotions while improving well-being. It's been found previously that meditation prompts changes in the amygdala, a region of your brain associated with processing emotion. The research suggests these beneficial brain changes persist even after the meditation session is over, resulting in enduring changes in mental function.23 Two Common Forms of MeditationIf you’re new to meditation, you may want to get started with one of two common forms, mindfulness meditation and self-induced transcendence. For mindfulness meditation, simply sit quietly, perhaps with some soothing music, breathe rhythmically, and focus on something such as your breathing, a flower, an image, a candle, a mantra, or even just being there, fully aware, in the moment. At the same time, let distracting thoughts pass by without taking your focus. Transcendence-style meditation is another form, which strengthens your corpus callosum, the bridge between your two brain hemispheres, according to Emily Fletcher of @zivameditation, my friend and meditation teacher. By strengthening the connection between your right and left hemispheres, you gain access to more creative problem solving, and increase your productivity without adding stress. Fletcher’s book, "Stress Less, Accomplish More: Meditation for Extraordinary Performance," is an excellent guide for people with busy minds and busy lives, and may help you stick with meditation for the long run, which is particularly important if you’re using it to help control your blood pressure. This is also key to triggering your body’s relaxation response. In an interview, Fletcher stated:24
